MUSICAL CONCERT (SPIC MACAY) AT SAINIK SCHOOL BALACHADI

A musical concert was organised in Sainik School Balachadi, Jamnagar in association with Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), Jamnagar Chapter on 15 Oct 2023.

It was conducted by renowned Satvik Veena player Pandit Salil Bhatt, and Shri Himanshu Mahant, Tabla Player. Pandit Salil Bhatt is the creator of ‘Satvik Veena’ and the son of the world famous Mohan Veena player and Grammy Award winner Padma Bhushan Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.

The program was conducted in the School auditorium where the guest was welcomed with a bouquet presentation and a brief introduction about him was delivered by Cadet Atharv and Cadet Yaman.

Sainik School Balachadi aims at moulding holistic personality in Cadets for entry in National Defence Academy. Music no doubt plays a vital role in making an all round personality. Keeping that in mind Sainik School Balachadi organizes such programmes periodically.

The mesmerizing and joyful performance by Pandit Salil Bhatt enthralled the spectators. He performed the ‘Raag Jog’ and introduced the Cadets to the language of Tabla, Swar and Taal. He addressed the many questions put up by the audience and explained the musical instrument Satvik Veena and its various parts. He also spoke about ‘RAAG’ and its types.

On this occasion, Mrs Geeta Mehta, first lady of the camps honoured Pandit Salil Bhatt and Shri Himanshu Mahant by presenting a School Memento as a token of remembrance.

Speaking on the occasion, Col Shreyash Mehta, Principal, Sainik School Balachadi appreciated Pandit Salil Bhatt and Shri Himanshu Mahant for their splendid performance and conveyed his thanks to SPIC MACAY, Jamnagar Chapter for musical concert at School. He also shared his childhood memories in connection with classical music.

The event was coordinated by Dr Mahesh Bohra, HOD Mathematics. It was a memorable evening for all Balachadians and spectators.
